Educators Wellness in Gaza: Conexión CP Launches Transformative Initiative
Recognizing the immense psychological toll on educators in Gaza, Conexión CP has launched a six-week pilot programme designed to support their mental well-being and strengthen their professional capacity. Developed in close partnership with the Palestinian Organization for Development (POD), the initiative benefits from POD’s technical support during its initial rollout.
The programme aims to reduce stress, anxiety, and burnout among educators while deepening their understanding of children’s needs and fostering a strong peer-support network. Teachers in Gaza face the dual burden of coping with their own trauma while creating safe and nurturing environments for children affected by conflict—intensifying the emotional demands of their role.
To ensure cultural relevance and effectiveness, the programme begins with a comprehensive mental health needs assessment and is continuously refined based on participant feedback. Through this collaborative and adaptive approach, Conexión CP and POD strive to empower educators to better care for both themselves and the children they serve.

Content and Methodology
The programme offers psychoeducation on stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout, equipping educators with the tools to recognize symptoms and manage their own emotional well-being. Interactive workshops create space for reflection, open dialogue, and peer support, with dedicated sessions addressing student well-being and resilience-building strategies.

Volunteer psychotherapists trained in the REWIND technique will provide online support for participants experiencing symptoms of PTSD. To encourage continued connection and mutual support, a WhatsApp group has been established for all participants.
Sessions will be held weekly, each lasting two hours. Activities include mood-enhancing exercises, identifying mental health risk factors, managing anxiety, fostering hope, promoting safe and inclusive classrooms, and nurturing a growth mindset.
The final session will focus on sustaining optimism, practicing gratitude, and strengthening peer support networks. After completing the programme, educators will have access to ongoing supervision and debriefing sessions to help meet their continuing emotional and professional needs.

Evaluation, Registration, and Benefits
To ensure the quality and relevance of the workshops, regular monitoring and evaluation will be carried out through surveys administered at the beginning, midpoint, and conclusion of the programme.
Upon successfully completing the six sessions, educators will receive a certificate of participation and a reward.
This initiative reinforces Conexión CP’s ongoing commitment to empowering resilient educators—individuals equipped to support vulnerable children and cultivate healthier, more supportive educational communities, even in the face of hardship.
