Accem participates in the fifth humanitarian reception of families from Gaza in Spain
On 27 October, two medically equipped aircraft landed at Torrejón de Ardoz Air Base in Madrid, transporting Palestinian children requiring urgent medical treatment, together with their families.
The evacuation was coordinated by the Ministry of Health, the WHO (World Health Organisation) and the ERCC (European Commission Emergency Response Coordination Centre). Several ministries, such as the Ministry of the Interior and Inclusion, have also participated.
Accem (Spanish Catholic Migration Commission Association) is responsible for providing shelter and comprehensive care to families as part of the Amman project, which provides psychosocial support and covers basic needs such as accommodation, food, legal advice, translation and interpretation, as well as emotional support.
The minors will be treated in hospitals in different autonomous communities, depending on their conditions, which include war injuries and serious illnesses such as congenital heart disease.
In recent years, Accem has taken in more than 180 people as part of this project, reaffirming its commitment to peace, human rights and humanitarian care for the victims of the conflict in Gaza.
