Our charity “Conexión, Creando Puentes” provides opportunities for all immigrants who want to improve their Spanish. This is why we are delivering literacy courses on reading and writing in our language. These courses are aimed at immigrants from Africa or other countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Cambodia etc., where their native language uses another signing system, or another alphabet, such as Arabic.
We are currently offering these courses at our Barcelona premises at C/ Concordia 10, which are currently being held on Saturday mornings. However, we will start other groups during the week depending on availability of teachers for those interested. The courses last for 3 months and range from 2 to 4 hours a week. In addition, for those who cannot attend in person at our premises can take the course online.
Our course content includes:
- the Spanish alphabet
- learning the syllables
- writing words
- copying words or texts
- taking dictation
- reading words and then sentences in magazines, simple stories, newspaper articles, books, etc.
- reaching how to use spelling rules (orthography)
- the pronunciation of the Spanish language.
